Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is primarily tasked with overseeing the finances and day-to-day operations of the Intergroup, as well as overseeing hiring, compensation, and management of Intergroup employees. The functions of the WAI Steering Committee include:


  1. Implement directives from WAI Delegates.
  2. Oversee WAI operations, finances and assets
  3. Hire and oversee the WAI Office Manager
  4. Inform AA groups of WAI resources and activities
  5. Oversee WAI expenditures and finances as needed.
  6. Ensure WAI serves AA groups per AA traditions and GSO guidelines

The Steering Committee is composed of:

  • Officers: Chairperson (& Alternate), Secretary (& Alternate), Treasurer (& Alternate)
  • Up to four Trustees
  • Office Manager & Assistant Office Manager

All Steering Committee members are elected by WAI delegates with the exception of the Office Manager, Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer—the office manager is a hired position and the Treasurer, Secretary and Chairperson are filled by the Alternate Treasurer, Secretary and Chairperson via automatic rotation as a means to ensure committee stability.
